Come as you are. You don’t have to fit into a box—therapy should fit into your life.

Therapy should meet you where you are—not where someone thinks you should be. I work with adolescents ages 13 and up, adults, and older adults, tailoring the treatment approach to each client’s individual needs, goals, and personality.

I specialize in working with clients experiencing trauma, chronic illness, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and LGBTQ+ concerns, and I particularly enjoy supporting men and women as they navigate the challenges that come with different stages of life.

My goal is simple: to meet you where you are and help you get where you want to be. Together, we’ll identify what is getting in the way and develop practical, evidence-based strategies to help you move forward.

All about dr. mcnutt

I’m Krystal McNutt, PsyD, MSCP, and my journey to becoming a psychologist wasn’t exactly traditional.

I actually earned two degrees in criminal justice and was on track to become a federal agent when I had a realization: I was far more interested in understanding why people do what they do than arresting them for it. So, I changed directions and earned my doctorate in Clinical Psychology.

Over the years, I’ve worked with violent offenders, crime victims, teens, adults, and older adults in both correctional settings and private practice. As meaningful as that work has been, I eventually discovered that my favorite part of this profession is working with people who genuinely want to heal, grow, and create a life they actually enjoy living. Being trusted to be part of that journey is one of the best parts of my job.

And what you see in therapy is me. I don’t believe therapy should feel like talking to a wall, and I’m not going to sit silently as a blank slate while you do all the talking. We’re a team, and we’re in this together. I’ll challenge you when you need it, celebrate your wins, and sometimes even cry right along with you.

I work best with people who are genuine and want a therapist who is down-to-earth, honest, and relaxed. My goal isn’t to make you fit into a particular therapeutic mold. Instead, I’ll meet you where you are and use evidence-based approaches that make sense for you and your life.

With a background in clinical psychopharmacology, I also believe in looking at the whole person. Mental health doesn’t exist in a vacuum, so we may talk about your physical well-being, sleep, nutrition, stress, relationships, and the progress you’re making in all areas of your life—not just what happens during our sessions.

And outside of being a psychologist? I’m a self-proclaimed chronically ill girlie with a ridiculous number of animals, and I love true crime, reality TV, and video games. I’m not interested in pretending I have life perfectly figured out either. I’m a real person sitting across from you, and I think that makes a difference.

If you’re looking for a therapist who will genuinely listen, be honest with you, laugh with you, challenge you when needed, and treat you like a whole person—you’re probably in the right place.
